MEMORIAL DAY

Scripture Reading - 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. KJV

These verses of scripture are commonly shared during communion to remind us of the physical death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ. Let us also look at some spiritual applications of these verses. For instance to eat the Body of Jesus means to eat His Holy Word. Remember even the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:11 states to give us our daily bread. That Bread is the Body of Jesus. We must strive to fellowship and dine with Him on a daily basis not just on Sunday morning at church and Wednesday night during church. To drink His Blood means to be filled with His Holy Spirit, the precious Wine of New Life. We are admonished in the scriptures to be continually filled (or we could say refilled) with the Holy Ghost by speaking in tongues and developing our Love walk. Both His Bread and His Blood were sent to give us a clearer picture of our Loving Heavenly Father. We should be wise enough to take advantage of these wonderful blessing on a continuous basis, especially when we consider how many people don’t even know His Word and His Spirit is available to them. Today please remember the awesome sacrifice Jesus made during a spiritual battle of immeasurable significance in which He conquered our enemy to win our souls. Child of God let everyday be our Memorial Day in Christ Jesus our Triumphant Savoir and our Celebrated Hero. Amen!
